Description

An inkwash sketch I did yesterday that I colored, moments ago, in Photoshop.
He's a hunter from the upper paleolithic, somewhere in Central Europe. In researching the paleolithic and how it's reconstructed for my doodlins, it seems nobody really knows how to deal with how people carried shit back in the day. It's always either primitive shoulder-strap backpacks or sidebags - neither of which feel, to me, plausible or practical (respectively).

So, after a bit of digging, I settled on an age-old carrying device seen throughout the developing world - the old-school headstrap backpack, or tumpline (inuit style!).

Best way to carry large bundles is a travois.  Kind of a drag cart.  They were used a lot by the native americans but not too far fetched for older stone age cultures to use them as well.
